But they had to scale everything back because gamers want GTA to be a game where they don't try in, its not supposed to be a game for drivers or pilots. Car crashes feel like car crashes with weight in the cars. There will never be a game like it because of the backlash from its game mechanics. My opinion won't make you like it though. GTAIV is one of my favorites of the series. It was Rockstars answer for everyone that thought GTAIV was boring, lots of fun missions you will enjoy in it. Just play the Ballad of Gay Tony DLC then. What I've seen of V suggests they're shooting for something much closer to San Andreas, but bigger and better.

That's what made the series famous, and IV broke or outright removed a lot of what made that happen. The last two are something the second gen GTA games did exceptionally well, creating compelling, emergent gameplay from surprisingly few ingredients. committing random acts of violence and generally wreaking havoc, in a skin-deep city simulation.Finding new, oftentimes unintended, uses for various weapons, vehicles, etc.extremely large variety in missions and minigames (and the absurdist comedy that grew out of that).Vice City and especially San Andreas had some interesting and complex things going on plot-wise, but the real draw and source of enjoyment came out of the gameplay itself: To the existing fanbase's perspective, it never was about the plot. When the game came out it was groundbreaking, I'll admit it, but now, oh boy, it hasn't aged well. It won't get any better, and wasting 30+ hours (yes, there are lots of missions, and yes, they are 90% extremely boring or frustrating to play) just to see the ending is not worth it. My verdict is: if you're not enjoying the game, leave it be. I keep hearing that it's the best DLC between the two, though. I'm not going to talk about the second DLC, because I grew tired of it quickly, and consequently abandoned it. It has a good story, good characters and some gameplay tweaks which improved my overall experience a little more. The Lost and the Damned DLC, on the other hand, that I enjoyed a bit more. The gameplay has not aged well, and I moaned in pain everytime I had to drive a car. I struggled to finish it, I disliked every single character and the storyline is slow, predictable and extremely silly.
